Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a complete system of medicine that is based on a tradition of more than 2000 years. It involves the use of the five pillars which include; acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, exercise, massage, and dietary therapy. Its fundamental theory involves using these modalities to restore your body’s balance while keeping you in harmony with the natural world. Christopher will employ whatever modality is necessary for the resolution of your health concern, but his primary modalities include acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of hair thin needles into the skin and tissue at specific points to affect the flow of qi in meridians that innervate the internal organs. By manipulating qi through the acupuncture points we can have a profound affect on physiology, and therefore treat a wide range of ailments.
Only sterilized single use needles are used and Christopher has certified in Clean Needle Technique by the the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Acupuncture is safe and effective when performed by a licensed acupuncturist.
You don’t necessarily have to be sick in order to get acupuncture. Acupuncture is a great way to keep your body in a state of homeostasis and therefore prevent disease.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
In TCM, herbs are prescribed in "formulas" of varying amounts of single herbs that work together to restore homeostasis and harmony. Each formula is constructed according to an individuals unique presentation. Chinese herbal formulas work in conjunction with acupuncture to treat a wide variety of health concerns.
